Robusta chart London 3/2022 session on December 23, 2021
At the end of the session, the price of Robusta coffee on the ICE Europe – London floor increased for the third consecutive session. Futures for delivery in March increased by 14 USD, to 2,353 USD/ton and term for delivery in May increased by 7 USD, to 2,301 USD/ton, slight increases. Trading volume above average. The island price structure widens the gap.
On the contrary, the price of Arabica coffee on the ICE US floor – New York reversed to decrease. The March spot futures fell 2.35 cents to 231.20 cents/lb and the May delivery futures fell 2.30 cents to 231.10 cents/lb, very significant reductions. Trading volume very below average. The island price structure closes the gap.
The price of green coffee beans in the Central Highlands provinces increased by 100-200 VND, to ranged in the range of 42,300 – 42,800 VND/kg.
The price of exported Robusta coffee, grade 2.5% black broken, stood at 2,103 USD/ton, FOB – HCM, with a deduction of about 240 – 250 USD/ton according to the May futures price in London.
The Reais rose 0.10%, the exchange rate rose to 1 USD = 5.6610 Reais due to the positive impact from the overseas market with investors believing that the threats of Omicron would be overcome soon.
Arabica coffee prices reversed to decrease due to short-term profit-taking speculation to avoid risks before the long weekend and Brazilians increased export sales when the Reais exchange rate was at a favorable level.
On the contrary, the price of Robusta coffee still maintained its upward momentum right before the first announcement day (FND), with the inverse price structure expanded further, in order to attract speculation and quickly bring the goods to the Auction Registration Floor.
