Other commodities increased in value mainly by volume such as: livestock products (up 16.0%), pangasius (up 18.2%), shrimp (up 12.0%); wood products (up 63.9%), rattan, bamboo, sedge mats (up 68.1%); cinnamon (up 36.6%).

The largest export market is the United States with over US$8.2 billion (accounting for 28.9% of the market share), of which the export turnover of wood and wood products accounted for 72.2% of the export turnover. Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and fishery exports to this market; China ranks second with nearly $5.5 billion (accounting for 19.2% of the market share) with the export turnover of vegetables and fruits accounting for 26.9% of the proportion of Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and fishery exports. to this market; followed by the Japanese market with an export value of over $1.9 billion (accounting for 6.8%); The fourth is the Korean market with an export value of over 1.2 billion USD (accounting for 4.3%).

Vietnam is the largest with $2.7 billion, accounting for 10.8% of the market share (of which cashews account for 75.4% of the value); The United States ranked second and reached over 2.4 billion USD, accounting for 9.7% (cotton products accounted for 35.1%).

Still worried about output for agricultural products

In the report sent to the Ministry of Planning and Investment to summarize and submit to the Government on difficulties, obstacles and key tasks and solutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the last months of 2021, it is clear that the Covid-19 epidemic is expected to remain complicated. complexity greatly affects the organization and implementation of agricultural, forestry and fishery production plans, especially in localities where social distancing is required; The circulation, distribution and consumption of agricultural products and raw materials for production face many difficulties.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, by August 2021, many kinds of agricultural products and fruits are in the harvest season, it is easy to have the risk of oversupply of agricultural products and food in production areas but shortages in some localities. epidemic prevention measures must be applied.

As for vegetables and fruits, in August 2021, it is estimated that output in the South is more than 1.1 million tons, while consumer demand is only 500 thousand tons. Some fruits have large output such as: Mango 40 thousand tons; 109,000 tons of bananas, 75,000 tons of durians, 40,000 tons of oranges, 40.5 thousand tons of longan, 30,000 tons of pineapples, 10,000 tons of jackfruits…

Meanwhile, the cold storage logistics system for preserving agricultural products is still limited. The whole country currently has 48 cold storages for preserving agricultural and aquatic products with a capacity of about 700,000 pallets and thousands of cold storages with a total storage capacity of 2 million tons of products for certain markets (mainly in Vietnam). mainly export). However, with the current number of cold storages, it cannot meet the needs of preserving agricultural and aquatic products for fresh preservation and processing for export, especially in the Mekong Delta.

Notably, the traditional export market of agricultural products is China, which is increasingly tightening regulations on import and export of goods. Accordingly, strengthening the inspection of goods, disinfecting goods and means of transporting exported goods from epidemic areas of Vietnam; continue to implement the management and traceability of goods, so the time for customs clearance of import and export goods is prolonged, and at the same time, strengthen the management of the driver fleet at the border gate; Strictly implementing the prevention of epidemics and Covid-19 disease through a team of specialized drivers to increase the time of goods release, sometimes local congestion occurs. The main export markets have increased applying technical barriers to trade, investigating the origin of some key export agricultural products of Vietnam, etc.

In order to overcome the above difficulties and problems, in the coming time, along with the adjustment of agricultural, forestry and fishery production plans in accordance with the weather conditions and developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in each province and city, in order to ensure both effective anti-epidemic and natural disaster prevention and good supply of food and foodstuffs for domestic consumption and export. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that it will coordinate with ministries, branches, localities and industry associations to focus on solving technical difficulties, facilitating customs clearance, logistics infrastructure, and preventing stagnation of goods in the provinces. border with China and key export markets. Strengthen the implementation of mobile sales and online sales programs; setting up buffer zones to gather goods, together with localities to identify and build “green channels”, “green zones” for agricultural products so as not to disrupt the supply chain, especially for agricultural products with high yield. large scale, harvest season, short storage time, ensuring enough food and food for the local people must apply Directive 16.
