In particular, despite being greatly affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, but in the first 6 months of 2021, food production and food production were very abundant, contributing to ensuring social security in the country, meeting good domestic demand and export service. New rural construction, forest planting and protection, food safety, basic construction… all have had good results.

Supply chain, consumption of agricultural products is still bottleneck

However, Minister Le Minh Hoan also frankly acknowledged that the agricultural industry still has many shortcomings in the first half of 2021. In which, there are long-standing problems that are being identified and focused by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. decide.

Regarding production and market relations, the agricultural industry is shifting from thinking about agricultural production to thinking about agricultural economy. The current growth in agricultural production is often due to increased productivity, increased output of agriculture, forestry and fishery. That proves that our production capacity, productivity and output of agricultural products are good.

However, does the actual increase in output mean that the added value of that product increases? Product makers, especially farmers, will benefit more or not; Whether or not there is enough power to reinvest and reproduce sustainably in the context of increasing input materials is an issue that needs to be recognized and evaluated.

Many kinds of vegetables and fruit prices in the country fell sharply, while the prices of fertilizers, animal feeds… tended to increase continuously.

“The output is high, but the agricultural industry still has to find solutions, calling on people, social organizations and businesses to support the consumption of agricultural products. There is still a situation of surplus, cheap and unsold agricultural products, but domestic consumers, especially in urban areas, still have to buy food and food at high prices, proving the supply chain and consumption of agricultural products. , food still has certain bottlenecks and fractures”, the Minister pondered.

This is also an issue that needs to be addressed in the near future.

Regarding the construction of new rural areas (NTM), the number of communes meeting the standards of rural areas recognized for many reasons may not achieve the set target. Some localities also show signs of following the movement in recognizing OCOP products, not paying attention to the effectiveness of the program, especially to arouse the potential and advantages of OCOP products in rural areas.

Currently, there are 4,847 OCOP products recognized as 3 stars or higher in the whole country, but the percentage of consumers who know about these OCOP products is still limited.
