The domestic pepper market has been quiet lately. According to purchasing agents, the amount of inventory in the garden is quite abundant, but the amount of goods brought to the market is very small and insignificant because people are expecting the price to return to the high level of mid-April.

However, the surprising thing is that the export price of black pepper from our country is currently offered at USD 5,750/ton for the 500 Gr/l FAQ, USD 6,100/ton for the 550Gr/l FAQ, and the 500 grade. Gr/l clean Asta priced at 6,100 USD/ton, 550 Gr/l clean Asta priced at 6,450 USD/ton, white pepper D/W 630 Gr/l priced at 8,300 USD/ton, FOB, down from 150 to 250 USD/ tons depending on the type compared to the price offered last week.
Meanwhile, the price of Indian special pepper MG1-ASTA is still offered at a high price of 6,950-7,000 USD/ton (C&F).

At the same time, it also warned that the world’s pepper exports will face an upcoming drop in prices before rebounding.
According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam’s pepper exports in April are estimated at 16,000 tons, worth 80 million USD, bringing the export volume of pepper in the first 4 months of 2011 to 42,000. tons, export turnover was worth US$208 million, down 4.9% in volume but increasing by 53.5% in value over the same period.
Data of Reuters Vietnam’s pepper exports in 2010 accounted for 47% of the world’s export market share.
The world pepper supply this year is short of about 33,000-35,000 tons.
It is hoped that our country’s exporters will take positive measures to raise the price of Vietnamese pepper in the world market and maintain Vietnam’s No. 1 position in exporting this spice crop.
