Accordingly, the biggest customers of Vietnam’s wood and forest products for export are the US, Japan, China, the EU and South Korea. These markets account for 90% of the country’s total export value of timber and forest products.
In terms of imports, in the three months of 2021, the value of wood imports was estimated at US $ 696 million, up 31% over the same period. The reason is that the price of raw wood in the first months of the year increased, and the import demand also increased over the same period.
The report of the Vietnam Administration of Forestry also stated that in the first three months of this year, this sector has planted 31,498 hectares of forest, equaling 116% compared to the same period in 2020, concentrated in some provinces in the North, North Central and South Central.
