On the international market, in recent weeks, black pepper prices from Vietnam have fluctuated little. Meanwhile, pepper prices from Indonesia and Brazil tend to decrease slightly, because the new crop season is taking place in these two countries.

Brazil’s pepper output this year is likely to be lower than initially expected due to harsh weather conditions and climate change negatively affecting the crop.

Pepper is also facing competition from crops that have similar growing conditions but bring better profits to farmers.

One such competitive crop is coffee . The crop’s output is also under pressure as researchers point out that rising temperatures could reduce the area suitable for growing coffee by 50%. Therefore, it is entirely possible that farmers will cut down pepper to grow coffee in the near future.
