Currently, the International Pepper Association (IPC) is listing the price of Lampung Indonesian black pepper at 6,470 USD/ton, Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper at 6,000 USD/ton, and Kuching Malaysia black pepper at 8,400 USD/ton.

Price of black pepper 500 g/l and 550 g/l export of Vietnam fluctuates between 6,200 – 6,500 USD/ton.

At the same time of the survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper reached 9,055 USD/ton. While Vietnamese white pepper and Malaysian white pepper stood at higher levels of 9,400 USD/ton and 10,500 USD/ton.

In recent years, Dak Nong has had more and more farmers, cooperatives, and businesses investing in developing organic agriculture, creating many high-quality products.

Hoang Nguyen Organic Agricultural Cooperative in Thuan Ha commune, Dak Song district is one of the leading units in developing organic pepper in the country. Right after its establishment in 2018, the cooperative determined to develop organic pepper.

To date, the cooperative has 202 households growing 700 hectares of organic and organic pepper. Of which, the cooperative has nearly 197 hectares that have been certified organic according to international standards including: Japan, America, EU, Canada.

In recent years, members of the cooperative have always sold organic pepper at prices higher than the market price, in some years twice as high.

Mr. Nguyen Cao Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Cooperative said, “Producing organic pepper requires high costs and takes a lot of work. Therefore, we have provided technical guidance to members and fertilizer production methods to reduce costs. When pepper farmers become organic, the economic value also increases proportionally, so they seriously comply with the cooperative’s production process.”

Meanwhile, Dak Song district (Dak Nong) is implementing a sustainable landscape pepper development program aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2022, Dak Song district implements the Pepper Landscape Program. This is the first step for the district’s pepper industry to open towards sustainable development. Dak Song has built pepper sub-projects, with a scale covering 4 communes: Thuan Ha, Thuan Hanh, Nam Binh and Nam N’Jang, with a scale of about 1,800 hectares.

To date, Dak Song has over 14,000 hectares of pepper, of which 13,539 hectares are being harvested, with an output of 36,121 tons/crop. The district has 2 high-tech pepper production areas in Thuan Ha and Thuan Hanh communes, with a total area of ​​1,549 hectares, according to Dak Nong Newspaper.
