According to preliminary data reported by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, pepper exports in July 2021 reached 26,339 tons of all kinds of pepper, down 6,816 tons, or 20.56% lower than the previous month but increased by 8,337 tons, ie an increase of 46.31 % over the same period last year.

The export value of pepper in the month reached 95.13 million USD, down 23.57 million USD, or 19.85% compared to the previous month, but increased by 50.26 million USD, or 112.03% compared to the previous month. with the same period last year.

The cumulative export volume of pepper in the first 7 months of 2021 reached a total of 180,210 tons of pepper of all kinds, down 4,307 tons, or 2.33% compared to the export volume of the first 7 months of 2020.

In terms of export turnover in the first 7 months of 2021, it reached a total of US$591.47 million, an increase of US$191.19 million, or an increase of 47.76% over the same period.

The average export price of pepper in July 2021 reached $3,612/ton, up 0.89% compared to the average export price of June 2021.

According to observers, pepper prices in July continued to increase slightly at a fairly stable rate, but export sales slowed down due to objective restrictions due to the Covid-19 epidemic. This also lasted through August because export ports in the south of our country temporarily received goods to Europe – America in limited volume because export goods were overcrowded.

Traders believe that the northern market’s increased buying demand for the upcoming National Day holiday will help ease this accumulation. While the main pepper producing countries in Southeast Asia have exhausted their old crop and they also started harvesting the new crop this year in the context of social distancing.
