According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first nine months of 2020, the total import-export turnover of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products reaches nearly 52.8 billion USD; of which, exports reached 30.05 billion USD, up 1.6% over the same period in 2019; import is about 22.8 billion USD, down by 2.2%. Thus, the agricultural, forestry and fishery production surplus reached US $ 7.25 billion, up 15.7% over the same period in 2019.

In September 2020, the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached USD 3.8 billion, up 3.8% compared to August 2020 and was the month with the highest export turnover in the last 9 months; in which, the export value of the main agricultural product group is estimated at over 1.6 billion USD, the main forest products are over 1.2 billion USD, the seafood is 820 million USD and the husbandry is 34 million USD …

Generally, in nine months, the export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery reached $ 30.05 billion, up 1.6% over the same period in 2019. Specifically: the main agricultural product group reached nearly $ 13.7 billion, down 1.1%; husbandry was estimated at USD 231 million, down 19.7%; seafood was estimated at over 6 billion USD, down 3%; main forest products reached about 9.1 billion USD, up 13.2%.

From the beginning of the year up to now, although there are still many items with reduced export, rice, vegetables, cassava, shrimp, wood and wood products, cinnamon, and bamboo have maintained an increase in export value over the same period. For example, rice export volume in 9 months was estimated at over 5 million tons, down 0.6% over the same period, but the value increased by 12%; or vegetables reached 515 million USD, up 7.6%; cassava reached 110 million USD, up 89.9%; shrimp earned nearly 2.75 billion USD, up 12.7%; wood and wood products reached about 8.5 billion USD, up 12.4% …

There are 8 groups with export value of over 1 billion USD and 6 groups with export value of over 2 billion USD are coffee, rice, cashew nuts, vegetables, shrimp, wood and wood products.

The items with a large decrease such as: pepper reached 489 million USD, down 17.6%; fruit about 1.9 billion USD, down 16.3%; Pangasius reached over 1.1 billion USD, down 23.5%.

Regarding the export market, the United States continues to be the largest market share with an export turnover of over US $ 7.5 billion, up 19.3% over the same period and accounting for nearly 25% of the market share. Followed by China was estimated at 7.24 billion USD, down 7.7% over the same period and accounting for 24.1% market share. The ASEAN market was estimated at 2.93 billion USD, up 4.6% and capturing 9.75% market share. EU reached about 2.83 billion USD, decreased by 0.6% and accounted for 9.4% market share. Japan reached 2.51 billion USD, equivalent to the same period and accounted for nearly 8.4% market share.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the consumption of agricultural products, especially for export, will be better, but will still face many difficulties. Therefore, in order to achieve the annual growth and export targets, all production sectors need to focus on implementing natural disaster prevention solutions; promote production, control diseases on plants and animals; promote trade promotion activities, open markets.

Functional units continue to coordinate with localities to grasp the production situation, difficulties and problems in agricultural product consumption; timely information, warning new regulations of the export market, especially the Chinese market.
