Coffee price is the highest level since the beginning of March

The Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV) said that the last trading week (April 21-27), the world raw material market received strong buying power. Closing the door, the MXV-Index increased by nearly 2% to 2,217 points. The group of industrial raw materials attracted attention when leading the rise of the whole market, in which, at the end of the weekend session, the price of Arabica coffee reached 9,000 USD/ton – the highest level since the beginning of March.

Closing the trading week, blue covers most of the industrial raw material market; In particular, many items increased very strongly. In the coffee market, two items Arabica and Robusta have an impressive week. At the end of the session, the price of Arabica coffee increased by 7.31% to 8,815 USD/ton; Meanwhile, the price of Robusta coffee increased by 2.62% to 5,415 USD/ton. During the session on Friday (April 25), the price of two coffee items fluctuated sharply, Arabica ended climbing to the highest level in 7 weeks.

According to the data of the ICE floor, the total number of Arabica coffee standards ended on April 22 decreased by 2.5% compared to April 15, the remaining 146,006 contracts. Meanwhile, the Cot Arabica announced the same day showed that the net position of the hatch fund in the market increased again 4.8%, reaching more than 36,920 lots, showing that this group was maintaining a superior buying position compared to the selling position.

Regarding the supply situation, according to the latest report from Hedgepoint Global Markets, Brazilian coffee production in the 2025-2026 crop is forecast to reach about 63.8 million bags (60kg), of which Arabica coffee is estimated at 40.8 million bags, and Conilon Robusta coffee is expected to reach about 23 million bags. This forecast is 0.46% lower than the estimated in January and consistent with the average forecast for Brazilian coffee production in the next crop. The Conilon harvest in Brazil has begun, while the Arabica case is expected to take place in the middle of the year

Regarding Arabica coffee inventory, data from the ICE floor as of April 25 recorded the total inventory reached about 822,020 bags, up 0.75% compared to the previous day and an increase of 3.32% compared to the previous week. In particular, the amount of inventory in Europe accounts for more than 757,500 bags (equivalent to 92.15% of the total inventory), and in the US is about 64,500 bags. Notably, more than 470,490 bags (57.2%) in the total amount of coffee registered at warehouses certified as Brazilian Arabica coffee. In addition, the amount of coffee that is waiting for classification on April 25 is 66,566 bags.

Domestic coffee price

In the domestic market, on the morning of April 28, the price of domestic coffee passed by yesterday. The specific prices are as follows: Dak Lak: 130,700 VND/kg; Lam Dong: 130,000 VND/kg; Gia Lai: 130,500 VND/kg; Dak Nong: 130,700 VND/kg.

Over the past month (at the end of March until now), the price of domestic coffee has recorded notable fluctuations. Accordingly, at the end of March 2025, domestic coffee prices rang around 116,000 – 118,000 VND/kg.

In early April, the price of coffee increased sharply thanks to the thrust from the world price and fearing the shortage of supply. On 10-11.4, the price of coffee set a new record, exceeded 127,000 VND/kg, followed by a strong increase in the wave of international coffee.

From mid -April until now, the price continues to escalate, close and exceeded 130,000 VND/kg – the highest ever.

Thus, in less than 1 month, the price of domestic coffee has increased by an average of 12,000 – 14,000 VND/kg, equivalent to an increase of about 10-12%.
