Other markets such as the US, Korea, Thailand and Japan also recorded a 35-90% increase in fruit and vegetable imports from Vietnam.

Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, commented that fruit and vegetable exports are rising to the top position in the agricultural product group, surpassing rice – which is the main export product. “Fruit and vegetable exports are growing strongly, especially thanks to the demand for durian from China,” Mr. Nguyen said.

Last month, during the visit to China of General Secretary and President To Lam, the two countries signed a protocol on exporting frozen durian and fresh melon to the billion-dollar market, opening up great opportunities for agricultural products. Vietnamese. It is expected that frozen durian exports will reach 400-500 million USD this year, while fresh coconut can add 200-300 million USD. Besides China, neighboring markets also increased imports of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables. This year, fruit and vegetable exports may reach a turnover of 7 billion USD, thanks to a sharp increase in consumption demand during the year-end holidays.
